Interim Senior Pastor
Rebekah Maddux El-Hakam
I began leading worship over ten years ago after moving back to Houston. I have been blessed to have several of my original worship songs published and recorded. In 2012, we released an 11 song debut album entitled Radiant You. And most recently, my original Christmas Song, Noel, I Know Jesus (which I co-wrote with my husband, Moustapha) was featured on the CCM Magazine Christmas Compilation Album. Moustapha and I have four children ages 10, 8, 6 and 4. They are so much fun and keep us busy all of the time! I am overjoyed that God called our family to Apostles and me to serve as the Worship Pastor. We have felt so graciously welcomed in to this community. God is so good!

In October of 2014, I joined the staff of Church of the Apostles. Before coming to Apostles, I served in various roles in churches including: Children Ministry, Youth Ministry, Membership Development, and Outreach. In addition I am a former teacher and school administrator. Also, I am a professional public speaker and a certified Walk Thru the Bible instructor. I have a love for the local church and value the community and work that only the local church can provide.
I received my undergraduate degree in English from Baylor University and earned my English and reading teaching certification from Houston Baptist University as well as a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I received my gifted and talented endorsement for all ages. When I am not at church, I enjoy spending time with my Coton de Tulear named Kate Spade. I also have a passion for theologically sound worship music.
I find a deep joy in sharing the gospel with children at our church. This good news teaches our children that Jesus is our rescuer, and we are rooted in His love and acceptance. We do not have to strive to earn God’s love and approval. I pray that our children at Apostles will embrace Romans 8:1: “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
