Ministry Teams at Apostles
When Jesus had a task to be done, whether it was preparing a room for the Passover meal or finding the donkey that he would ride on Palm Sunday, he sent his disciples in pairs or larger groups. To imitate this pattern, we’re committed to doing ministry in teams. Each one has a leader, a particular vision and a team of people whom God fathers for the purpose of serving others. Jesus told us that the world would know we are his disciples by our love for one another.
** Altar Guild
This team is responsible for setting up the altar with communion vessels before the service and removing and cleaning these afterwards. The Guild also maintains the linens – those that decorate the altar and those used in the serving of communion.
This team shares Christ’s love to members of Apostles, who are not yet connected to a LifeGroup or ministry, when they are in need – through prayer, kind words and a meal.
This team consists of the majority of our church. We believe that as a church family, we’re called to love and disciple our own. Currently, we have 3 teams within this ministry:
Sonshine Kids – This team serves babies through 4 year olds throughout the service.
Kids Time 1 – This team serves 5 year olds – 1st grade. (during the sermon)
Kids Time 2 – This team serves children in 2nd – 3rd grade. (during the sermon)
Dive In – The team serves children in 4th grade. (during the sermon)
This team plans and coordinates opportunities and events (picnics, socials, covered dish meals, food truck Sunday) designed to build community within the Apostles family. They also offer hospitality on Sunday mornings by serving refreshments after a worship service.
This team provides a ministry of welcome and hospitality to all who attend an Apostles worship service. Greeters meet people as they arrive and help guests locate Children’s Ministry rooms, rest rooms and the worship space as well as answering general questions. Serving time is 9:45 – 10:10 am.
** Intercessors Team
Each member of this team commits to pray on behalf of a specific Apostles’ ministry. A team leader communicates regularly with their intercessor to share prayer requests regarding upcoming events, activities and team concerns.
** Lay Eucharistic Ministry Team
The members of this team assist during Holy Communion by administering the cup (chalice). And/Or you can be a Reader, assigned a Bible text to be read during the service.
This team provides technical support prior to and during the worship service. This includes running sound and recording the morning message. Team members receive basic training on sound board to learn to set levels, turn on and mute microphones as needed during the service. When serving, arrival time is one hour prior to service start. Each team member is scheduled to serve on a rotating basis: currently every five weeks.
Ushers hand out bulletins, assist in seating worshippers, direct communion flow, encourage our junior ushers and tidy up the worship area following the service. Serving time begins at 9:45 – tidying up.
This team provides leadership for the musical parts of our worship service. This team can include keys, guitars, bassist, drummer, violinists and vocalists. Team members audition and are selected by the worship pastor.
** Prayer Ministry Team
The goal of this ministry is to offer prayer for people during communion each Sunday. Members to this team will have participated in a 4-week teaching course, including prayer and a discernment process.
** Church membership required.
